On 24th and 25th October Lindsay, Mae, Paul and Adrian attended Par-Con 2025, which was held in Birmingham. This is a 2 day event run by Parkinon’s UK, where the Parkinson’s community comes together both online and in-person to hear from expert speakers, find out about the latest research, connect with others and learn more about living well with Parkinson’s

It was really wonderful being able to talk to such a variety of people about their experiences living with Parkinson’s and their general desire to want to partake in research. We were also grateful to be joined by two of our Patient Council members Paul and Adrian, who helped us represent TORUS.

TORUS stand

We were set up with our TORUS stand in the ‘Discover Research’ space, where we chatted with attendees about the technology and the research being carried out across the work packages. We presented the concept of the TORUS technology in the home with a Sylvanian Families living room, and were able to showcase some example video clips alongside to show what the data capture was like.

Adrian gathering insights!

It was also a great opportunity for us to present TORUS to the public and gather some insight into acceptability of our proposed system by those who might use it. Discussions again highlighted the importance of our communication and making clear what data TORUS will collect and where it is going.

Lindsay meeting Matt Eagles - new friend of TORUS

We met some very inspirational people, and were touched by just how everybody’s story is different, and how much research like TORUS will make a difference in the future.

This short video Par-Con 2025 video  shows just how much the event means to the Parkinson’s community. You might even spot our Patient Council member Adrian being interviewed!
